Classic Car Tours

Jaguar Mk2 The HealeyIn addition to managing The Fat Lamb Hotel, I am also a committed car nut and run two classic cars, specifically an Austin Healey 3000 and a Mk2 Jaguar. I use these as my regular transport at all times provided the salt isn't on the roads. Running them is a lot more fun than running hotels and I have convinced my hard working staff that organising tours and leading (or just tagging along with) groups of Classic Car enthusiasts along the wonderful fell tops roads we have around here, is actually work. We have played hosts to many and varied groups of Classic Car Owners from old Riley’s to vintage Bentleys, Lotus 7’s to Morgan’s, even vintage tractors, as well as my own Triumph TR6 at Rutter Falls Fordclubs Vintage tractors - came over the fells and stayed the night!(mine as in I'm a member of them, not mine per se) the Austin Healey Club, Wigton Motor Club and the Sporting Bears Motor Club, who use their cars to raise money for children's charities. We also cater for more modern gatherings of MR2's, MX5's, Z3/4's. etc etc etc - anyway, I'm sure you get the picture, Car Clubs are made very welcome.

We can offer accommodation to small tours of up to twelve cars – or more using overspill accommodation at our sister hotel, The Black Bull at Nateby. We have also fed and watered several owners clubs during lunchtime stops, as well as acting as official rest stops for larger a classic car tourevents such as the Rally of the Tests, the Roof of England Rally and roof of England rallythe Devils Own.

I have several planned tours, based on the Hotel, from 50 to 250 miles in duration and am always happy to offer advise on suitable routes, or to accompany individuals or groups in my own car to show them some of the superb driving roads in the area. If you run a classic do call in if you are in the area and if you are a member of a club, please put us forward to the club secretary for your next run out.
