We started on a high note this year with an award for Highly Commended Inn of the Year from travel company Discover Britain. We were nominated by continental visitors on the company's "Inns of Britain" programme, who found our mix of traditional hospitality and good food much to their liking and gave us as their favourite place on the tour. In March we attended the British Tourism Trade fair at the NEC to receive our award.
Not to be outdone by the Europeans our American visitors have had some nice things to say about us also. Two groups of American clients from Willamette Travel in Oregon voted the Fat Lamb as the highlight of their tour of Britain last year. We have been taking Willamette's clients for the past three years now and have had a steady trickle of Oregonians staying with us. British Coastal Tours, another American tour company with whom we do business, book their guests in at the Fat Lamb for three nights whilst walking from one side of Britain to the other on the Coast to Coast walk, moving from hotel to hotel as they do so. To quote from one of their guest groups:
"A large group of intrepid Yanks
Has slid down and sloshed up all the banks.
We put the Fat Lamb to the test and declared it the best.
Please accept all our USA thanks."
Unsolicited comments such as these make all the hard work worthwhile. We don't claim to get it right all the time but we do work extra hard to put right any mistakes we may make. Our main purpose is to make you, the customer, feel completely at home in order to relax and fully enjoy your stay. To this end we try to keep the Fat Lamb as informal as possible.
If any of you have stayed with us before and you would like to add your own comments, then please feel free to use our visitors book.
