Hawes and Northern Dales

Immediately to the south of the Fat Lamb Hotel lie the Northern Yorkshire Dales of Swaledale and Wensleydale, part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Wensleydale, famous for its cheese, as immortalised by Nick Park’s wonderful characters Wallace and Gromit, and produced at the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes - the main Dales town in this area. Swaledale, a lesser known valley is arguably one of the most picturesque of the Dales with it’s countless tiny stone barns or field houses and mile after mile of painstakingly built stone walls.
