Northern Lakes
Penrith to the north of the Fat Lamb is what Kendal is to the south – gateway to the Lake District National Park, this time to the northern lakes, Ullswater and Keswick. Try the drive from Pooley Bridge past Ullswater and then on up over the Kirkstone Pass – autumn is undoubtedly the best time with glorious colours. Ullswater Steamers operate a regular round trip service between Pooley Bridge and Glenridding which is well worth a trip.
