Sedbergh and the Howgills

Mountain StreamThe Fat Lamb Country Inn sits at the eastern edge of the Howgill fells – Alfred Wainwrights “sleeping elephants” – and perhaps one of Cumbria’s best kept secrets. The Howgill's comprise over a hundred square miles of ancient rounded hills with plummeting waterfalls, spectacular views and criss-crossing footpaths where it is still possible to walk all day without seeing another person, even at the height of summer.

To the southern edge of the Howgills lies Sedbergh - England's book town - and Dent, typical Dales market towns with their narrow cobbled streets and stone built cottages.
