Southern Lakes
To the west of the Hotel lies Kendal, gateway to the Lake District National Park with its famous lakes and steep mountains – and regrettably its equally famous summer traffic queues and crowds. The popular destinations of Coniston, Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness are best viewed either side of the busy summer season in Spring or Autumn when the colours are at their best and the crowds less intrusive.
